Atlanta Rapper Admits To Shooting In Lyrics, Gets Jail Time
By Daniel Kreps • Nov 20th, 2008 • Category: MusicAn Atlanta rapper is behind bars for the next 20 years after confessing to an attempted murder in the lyrics to one of his songs. Rico Todriquez Wright was sentenced in the 2006 shooting of Chad Blue. While on trial, Blue testified that “I heard one of the men tell Rico, ‘Go ahead and shoot him.’ When he raised his gun, I knew I had to run.” Wright suffered gunshots to the thigh and groin. However, it wasn’t Blue’s testimony that was the smoking gun for Wright. Rather, it was a single lyric from one of his own raps that did Wright in. “Chad Blue knows how I shoot,” Wright gloated in the lyric. Wright was sentenced to 20 years for aggravated assault.
